About Us
Te Whare Aronui is an online marketplace showcasing handcrafted Māori arts and crafts created by talented artists and makers. Our collection may include contemporary artwork, woven creations, pounamu carvings, gifts and other handmade taonga.
As many of our products are individually handcrafted, no two pieces will ever be exactly the same. This uniqueness is part of the beauty and authenticity of handmade work.
Product Information
We make every effort to ensure our product descriptions and photographs accurately represent each item.
Please note:
- Colours may vary slightly due to different screen settings and lighting.
- As all products are handmade, natural variations in colour, texture, shape, size and finish are to be expected.
- Measurements provided are approximate.
These natural variations are not considered faults.
Pricing
All prices are displayed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST where applicable.
Prices are subject to change without notice.

We reserve the right to cancel an order if:

Please collect your order within a reasonable timeframe. If you are unable to collect, please contact us to arrange an alternative collection time.
Shipping

We hope to introduce shipping services in the future. Once available, these Terms & Conditions will be updated accordingly.
Returns & Exchanges
Because our products are handmade and many are one-of-a-kind, we do not offer refunds or exchanges for:
- change of mind;
- personal preference; or
- minor natural variations in handmade items.
However, if your item is faulty, damaged, or does not match its description, please contact us within 7 days of collection.
Where required under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, we will repair, replace, or refund the item as appropriate.
Pounamu
Pounamu is a treasured taonga and should be treated with care and respect.
Natural inclusions, colour variations and markings are characteristics of genuine pounamu and are not considered defects.
Intellectual Property
All photographs, branding, logos, written content and product designs displayed by Te Whare Aronui remain the property of Te Whare Aronui and/or the individual artist where applicable.
They may not be copied, reproduced or used without prior written permission.

Where applicable, products will acknowledge the artist or maker.
Each artist retains ownership of their own creative work unless otherwise agreed.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, Te Whare Aronui shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the purchase or use of our products.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other applicable New Zealand legislation.
